All-star contributor Fellow Soupers, I need some advice. I'm in CA. I have a Travelers appointment through Smart Choice that is being terminated (just the personal lines portion) along with I'm told hundreds of other agents. I have about $100K in auto/home and some umbrellas. I don't have another standard carrier that writes both home/auto so I'd be looking at piecemealing with Progressive, NatGen, and then Bamboo/Aegis etc. My customers have started to receive non-renewal notices on the home and umbrella and the notice states that they are non-renewing because "Travelers and your agent have ended their business relationship for personal insurance. This means that we are unable to transact personal insurance business through the agent that represents you." Some of these customers I have long relationships with. Travelers has said that the auto policies do not receive a non-renewal notice and that I can keep them for 3 years. After that the commission goes to 0%. However, if we move the home, they will lose the bundle discount I believe. And undoubtedly when I go to requote their property, it will be higher. However, I have no way of knowing what their Travelers renewal quote would be and in CA I believe they are getting a rate increase in exchange for partipating in the DOI'S new Sustainable Insurance Strategy. I was also going to see if I could find a different organization that has a code that allows agents to write business through their code (not a sub code but more like an MGA) such as WIAA and then move the policies to their code so I effectively can keep the customer with Travelers and under me but I'm not sure if that will work. A couple of questions: How would you frame this to the customer? Would you just offer a replacement on the home and umbrella and let the auto ride for 3 years? Would you advise the customer that they can move it to another active Travelers agent? Is there anything you can think of, outside the box (such as finding another Travelers agent and working some sort of agreement where they take over the home in exchange for something else)? Anyone else in this same boat? I'm open to any and all ideas! See less All reactions:
