Question for State Farm - Ohio. Our commercial auto client was in an accident with a State Farm client on 12/02/25. State Farm client was at fault party. State Farm deemed my insured's vehicle a total loss. Insured paid $442.00 at time of loss to have vehicle towed. Now State Farm is stating they will not pay his towing bill. True or False? Do I have my insured submit the tow bill again to a supervisor or do they normally not pay for the tow? I'd like to instruct my client correctly. Appreciate your help Soup. Thank you.

reasonable towing costs are typically considered part of the loss. 'But for' the accident, your insured wouldn't have incurred that expense. I'd recommend resubmitting the tow bill and asking for a supervisor review if it's already been denied. If they still refuse, ask them to provide the basis for denial in writing.

what say you?

oh GOD. basically they pay whatever the hell they want when they want. You could try the supervisor and raise hell about it but we have 3 (out of 7) claims with State Farm since August that are still open because of this type of mess.

Oy. My client is not happy with the handling of this claim.

it's been SO bad that we have advised all our clients, from now on, to file and subrogate.

Is this part of a limits discussion?

Have they submitted it the claim file?

$422 sounds crazy high. They will or should pay reasonable cost.
