PA - Looking for a carrier for a repair shop that wants to offer loaner cars to clients while they do work on client's vehicles. They're interested in setting up a separate legal entity in order to insure this on its own. Client is planning on having two cars to loan. Anyone have any thoughts or have written something like this?

I owned an auto repair shop for years. Most shop owners have their own vehicles registered to the business with rt tags. Then insure the vehicles through the shops policy. But the person who has the car on loan must have valid insurance on their car. Works like enterprise where if their is an accident it's on the drivers insurance policy

If it is in their normal scope of operations and they have the customers car in for repair most garage policies would cover the loaner. The key is the person using the loaner has to have their car in for service

They're overcomplicating it. Why not use as one entity? Most carriers include that automatically for garage ops
