Oregon - Church

I have a client whose 19-year-old son will be leaving for a two-year LDS church mission. It's not yet known whether he'll be serving state side or internationally. The client is asking whether he can be removed from their insurance policy during that time. I haven't navigated this situation before and would appreciate any perspective or guidance. State: Oregon
