Edited Holly Bayliss Wyatt My agency can help. Please don’t have an ancient roof or 500 claims! Other than that we should be good!
Answer as Justin Katie McGhee posted to Insurance Soup™ My mother-in-law is an Allstate customer, before her husband passed he handled all the insurance which at the time included all of his commercial polices, a boat and 4 more vehicles. He passed earlier this summer and as we liquidated assets to pay off his debt we also canceled the policies as appropriate. She got her renewal on her home over the weekend and it more than doubled. The service rep said its because she lost the multi policy discount. Is that discount that big? Should commercial policies even count toward discounts on the house? Before renewal she was paying 734 a year - competitive in the area. They did not update RCT or increase coverage A. Renewal is 1628 for the year. I cannot even. I hate how this plays out when a spouse passes and this adds more stress. This is what it is, but maybe we can try explaining these rate changes as the policies change would help a widow from having another blow they don't need and didn't expect. All reactions:

Answer as Justin Katie McGhee posted to Insurance Soup™ I haven't written a life policy in a year and wonder if some if the medical underwriting rules are still somewhat lenient or more strict or if they've changed at all ... anybody? We've lost 2 young fathers this week in my small community and I've had several people reach out so I want to help but feel very out of the loop. All reactions:

Daniel Gates Rising contributor Katie Trump UW is similar to what we used to see and many carriers are offering “no exam” for up to 1M face amount. (Usually requires bloodwork in later 18 Months). Health problems like copd and immune disorders are being more strictly reviewed/rated. … See more
